Managing Director and founder of Hurrion & Associates Ltd, Sarah-Jane Hurrion, is an English Barrister with over 15 years of commercial litigation experience. She is consistently ranked as a leading individual in Chambers Global and is admitted to practise law in Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and England and Wales.
Sarah-Jane undertakes all aspects of commercial litigation, dispute resolution insovency and solvent/insolvent corporate restructuring. Her practice includes advising liquidators, directors and creditors of Bermuda insolvent companies and those undergoing reconstructions. Sarah-Jane is currently leading a team retained to act on behalf of Hermes International Fund Limited and Thema Fund Ltd against various HSBC entities. Her firm is also retained to act on behalf of FIM Advisers / FIM Limited and principals in connection with the Supreme Court proceedings Kingate Global Fund Limited (in liquidation) and Kind Euro Fund Limited (in liquidation) v Kingate Management Limited et al.
Sarah-Jane has considerable experience in complex cross-border reorganisations. She also has a wide range of experience in fund litigation including relief and liabilities of fund administrators, auditors and custodians in Bermuda. Examples of matters on which Sarah-Jane has acted include: advising Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc and Lehman Commercial Paper Inc; advising and implementing a Scheme of Arrangement for MAp (now named Sydney Airport Group) to effect a simplification of MAp’s corporate structure and a return of capital of close to AU$1.5bn to MAp security holders; advising the liquidator of ProtoStar Ltd. ProtoStar 1 Ltd. ProtoStar II Ltd and ProtoStar Development Ltd, Bermuda companies with US and Asian operations involved in the acquisition and launching of geostationary satellites, on the Bermuda aspects of the liquidation; advising the liquidators of Sea Containers Ltd on the Bermuda aspects of the reorganisation.
Sarah-Jane was called as a barrister to the Bar of England and Wales by Gray’s Inn in 2001. In 2006, Sarah-Jane moved to Walkers in the Cayman Islands to develop her international commercial, hedge fund and insolvency practice as a senior associate in the commercial and dispute resolution department. Sarah-Jane joined Cox Hallett Wilkinson Limited in Bermuda in 2010, where she continued to develop her international commercial litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice before setting up Hurrion & Associates Ltd. in January 2014.
Hurrion & Associates Ltd. quickly developed into a successful litigation firm of 11 employees working on a number of high-profile commercial litigation matters before joining forces with Harneys Westwood & Riegels in September 2015. Due to a potential client conflict of interest Harneys and Hurrion parted ways at the end of 2016 with Hurrion & Associates Ltd. re-opening conflict free in January 2017.
